WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR), and Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) issued the following statement upon the recent renomination of Heidi King to be Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
“As Deputy Administrator of NHTSA, Heidi King has been a strong voice for vehicle safety and a tireless advocate in the agency’s mission to keep our roadways safe. From the unfortunate rise in distracted and drugged driving plaguing our roadways, to the promise of self-driving technology, NHTSA plays a critical role in improving safety for our nation’s drivers. We urge the Senate to quickly confirm Administrator King in order to help make cars and the driving public safer, and we look forward to working with her to strengthen the agency’s ability to support the development of safe self-driving cars," said Walden and McMorris Rodgers.
