Washington, D.C. - Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Communications and Technology Chairman Mike Doyle (D-PA) announced today that the Communications and Technology Subcommittee will hold a hearing on the T-Mobile and Sprint merger on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019 at 10 am in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing will be entitled, “Protecting Consumers and Competition: An Examination of the T-Mobile and Sprint Merger." Due to a change in scheduling, this will no longer be a joint hearing with the Judiciary Subcommittee on Antitrust, Commercial and Administrative Law.
“A merger between T-Mobile and Sprint, both of which serve a large number of low-income customers, would combine two of the four largest wireless carriers. As the Committee with oversight of communications networks and the Federal Communications Commission, we must hold this hearing to examine the effects on important issues like jobs, costs to consumers, competition, and innovation," said Pallone and Doyle. “We look forward to examining this merger from the perspective of what is in the best interest of consumers and American workers."
