Health Subcommittee to Hold Hearing with Secretary Azar on President Trump’s FY 2020 Budget Request

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on March 5, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Health Subcommittee Chairwoman Anna G. Eshoo (D-CA) announced today that the Health Subcommittee will hold a hearing on Tuesday, March 12, at 12 pm in the John D. Dingell Room, 2123 Rayburn House Office Building with Health and Human Services Secretary (HHS) Alex Azar on President Trump’s budget request related to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and its agencies for fiscal year (FY) 2020. The hearing is entitled, “The Fiscal Year 2020 HHS Budget."

Next week’s hearing will be Secretary Azar’s first congressional hearing following the expected release on Monday of President Trump’s federal budget request.

“The Trump Administration continues to prioritize harmful policies that make health care less affordable, less accessible and with fewer consumer protections," Pallone and Eshoo said. “Next week’s hearing will be an important opportunity to ask Secretary Azar about the Trump Administration’s actions to take away Americans’ health care, their half-hearted attempts to lower the cost of prescription drugs, and HHS’s role in the family separation crisis."

Information for this hearing, including witness testimony and a link to the live webcast will be posted HERE as they become available.
