Walden Statement on Democrats’ Bill to Bind U.S. to Unrealistic, Expensive Paris Agreement

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on May 2, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR) released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 9, the Climate Action Now Act:

“Republicans want to protect our environment, but we must advance serious and achievable solutions. Unfortunately, Democrats want to stifle American innovation by binding the nation to this costly international commitment that most agree would do little to reduce global emissions but would do massive harm to our economy and undermine our security interests. We should instead be focused on continuing to reduce emissions, developing and exporting clean energy technologies, and making our communities more resilient, all while ensuring affordable and reliable energy prices and prioritizing the consumer and American security and prosperity," Walden said.
