Communications and Technology Subcommittee Announces FCC Oversight Hearing

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on May 8, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C. - Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Communications and Technology Subcommittee Chairman Mike Doyle (D-PA) announced today that the Communications and Technology Subcommittee will hold a hearing on oversight of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) with all five commissioners on Wednesday, May 15, at 10 am in the John D. Dingell Room, 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing will be entitled, “Accountability and Oversight of the Federal Communications Commission."

“Congress charged the FCC with regulating the communications sector to promote the public interest, competition, public safety, and protect consumers. Unfortunately, the current FCC has too often sided with corporate interests over the needs of the American people," Pallone and Doyle said. “The Committee will examine past FCC decisions that have harmed consumers and question the Commissioners about proposals before the FCC that raise serious public interest and policy concerns."

Information for this hearing, including the Committee Memorandum, testimony, and a live webcast, will be posted HERE as they become available.
