Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement today in response to President Trump’s event celebrating his Administration’s environmental leadership:
“From day one, President Trump and his Administration have consistently rolled back and undermined critical environmental protections that safeguard public health, help combat the climate crisis, and help modernize our economy. Whether it be withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement, rolling back popular fuel economy and energy efficiency standards, undermining the Mercury Rule, or refusing to ban asbestos, the Trump Administration’s record on public health and the environment is abysmal. The only so-called leadership from this Administration is its repeated efforts to do the bidding of big oil, coal and other special interests.
“Today’s event shows President Trump is not only in denial about climate change, but also about the devastating impacts of his Administration’s environmental record. The clean water, air and land we have today is thanks to the very standards this Administration is actively working to reverse. This committee has not, and will not, allow those efforts go unopposed."
