Walden Statement on Continuing Committee Work on PFAS to Keep Communities Safe

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on July 12, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR) released the following statement on the importance of continuing to work on PFAS legislation in a bipartisan manner through the committee process.

“The House Energy and Commerce Committee takes our responsibility to keep our communities safe very seriously. We tackle complicated issues and we work to get it right - using deliberation and in this case, the scientific process. That is exactly what the bipartisan leaders of the Subcommittee on Environment and Climate Change - Chairman Paul Tonko and Republican Leader John Shimkus - are doing on PFAS. We will act, we will protect communities from any hazards or contamination, but we need to get it right. We hear it too often, but allowing regular order to continue so the committee can have good-faith discussions is important. I look forward to continuing to work with my Republican and Democratic colleagues so we can get this right," said Walden.
