WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR) made the following statement on the retirement of Rep. Pete Olson (R-TX). Rep. Olson serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and is a member of the Communications and Technology and the Energy subcommittees.

“Pete Olson has always been dedicated to service. As a Navy Aviator - where he was deployed overseas - to his years serving Texans in Congress.

“I had the honor of working with Pete on the Energy and Commerce Committee for the last decade, and I appreciated his focus on solutions. As Chairman of the committee, Pete helped me pass key legislation - the Brownfields Enhancement, Economic Redevelopment, and Reauthorization Act - to help communities across the nation boost their local economies and promote clean land. In fact, Minute Maid Park, home to Pete’s beloved Houston Astros was a brownfield site. A fact Pete will remind everyone of whenever he gets an opportunity!

“I’d like to thank Pete for his service, and I wish this proud patriot, his wife Nancy, and their two children well in his retirement," said Walden.
