WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR) made the following statement on the retirement of Rep. Bill Flores (R-TX). Rep. Flores serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and is a member of the Communications and Technology, Energy, and Environment and Climate Change subcommittees.

“I can still recall when Bill Flores announced his run for Congress in 2009, challenging 10-term incumbent Chet Edwards. Bill won that race and soon put his background as an entrepreneur and energy executive to use, becoming well-known as a champion of opportunity, and constant advocate for American energy dominance.

“Bill is a serious legislator - tireless, thoughtful, and passionate about advancing conservative solutions for hardworking families in Central Texas and across the country. Over the next 16 months I know he will continue to work toward key priorities for our Committee and nation, like maintaining our 5G technology leadership, bringing down prescription drug costs, and ensuring the United States leads on energy development.

“Thank you, Bill, for your service. I wish you, Gina, and your family the very best in your well-deserved retirement," said Walden.
