Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Environment and Climate Change Chairman Paul Tonko (D-NY) announced today that the Environment and Climate Change Subcommittee will hold a hearing on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 10 am in the John D. Dingell Room, 2123 Rayburn House Office Building on the need to significantly curb industrial greenhouse gas pollution to combat the climate crisis. The hearing is entitled, “Building a 100 Percent Clean Economy: Pathways for Net Zero Industrial Emissions."
“The industrial sector is a critical source of good jobs, cutting-edge innovation, and the products that help our economy flourish. At the same time, it is also the third largest source of all greenhouse gas pollution. We must meet this challenge head-on and help industry identify ways to reduce its carbon emissions and thrive in a clean economy," said Pallone and Tonko. “We look forward to hearing from experts on how Congress can help facilitate the transition to a 100 percent clean economy in a way that ensures our industrial sector continues to prosper and stay globally competitive."
The hearing represents the next in the Committee’s series of climate change hearings aimed at developing comprehensive legislation to achieve a 100 percent clean economy by 2050. Information for this hearing, including the Committee Memorandum, witness list, testimony and a live webcast will be posted HERE as they become available.
