Washington, D.C. - Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Energy Subcommittee Chairman Bobby L. Rush (D-IL) announced today that the Energy Subcommittee will hold a hearing on Friday, Sept. 20, at 9 am in the John D. Dingell Room, 2123 Rayburn House Office Building on using energy efficiency measures to reduce the greenhouse gas pollution attributed to our commercial and residential buildings. The hearing is entitled, “Building a 100 Percent Clean Economy: Solutions for the U.S. Building Sector."
“Nearly 40 percent of U.S. greenhouse gas pollution is attributed to our homes and buildings, so improving their energy efficiency and developing new strategies for decarbonizing the building sector is absolutely critical to our fight against climate change," said Pallone and Rush. “We look forward to hearing from our panel of experts on best strategies and solutions, and discussing ways Congress can support those efforts."
The hearing is the third hearing in the Committee’s climate change series aimed at developing comprehensive legislation to achieve a 100 percent clean economy by 2050.
