Environment & Climate Change Subcommittee Announces Budget Hearing with EPA Administrator Wheeler

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Feb. 20, 2020. It is reproduced in full below.

Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Environment and Climate Change Subcommittee Chairman Paul Tonko (D-NY) announced today that the Environment and Climate Change Subcommittee will hold a hearing on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 10 am in the John D. Dingell Room, 2123 Rayburn House Office Building with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Andrew Wheeler on President Trump’s EPA budget request for fiscal year 2021. The hearing is entitled, “The Fiscal Year 2021 EPA Budget."

“The Trump Administration’s proposal to slash EPA’s budget by a staggering 27 percent ignores the reality that our climate is in crisis and our communities are at risk from EPA inaction," said Pallone and Tonko. “We will hold Administrator Wheeler accountable for his agency’s failure to protect Americans from PFAS contamination, unsafe drinking water, climate change and other pressing public health threats. The American people deserve to hear why this Administration is not taking the health and safety of their families and communities seriously."

Information for this hearing, including witness testimony and a link to the live webcast, will be posted HERE as it becomes available.
