Washington, DC - Energy and Commerce Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR) released the following statement on the additional funding needed for the Paycheck Protection Program. The Paycheck Protection Program was established under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

“The coronavirus has tested the limits of our health care system and shuttered main street. The Paycheck Protection Program - the SBA 7a loan program funded by the CARES Act - is a lifeline to our small business owners and the people who work for them across America. This program was stood up in a few short days-distributing tens of billions of dollars to keep folks employed and small businesses afloat. This is exactly what the American people expect of their government: targeted, decisive, and impactful action; the Congress should approve additional resources immediately, before the well runs dry," said Walden.
