Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chair Diana DeGette (D-CO) announced that the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee will hold the Committee’s first fully remote hearing on Tuesday, June 2, at 11:30 a.m. (EDT). The hearing is entitled, “On the Front Line: How Governors are Battling the COVID-19 Pandemic."
“The Subcommittee will continue its oversight work next week with a hearing focused on governors’ efforts to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic," Pallone and DeGette said. “As more states start to re-open, access to widespread testing, as well as contact tracing and surveillance, are key to monitor for potential outbreaks and keep communities safe. But for months, the Trump Administration has relegated its responsibilities to the states and refused to develop and implement a coordinated national testing strategy with clear timelines and benchmarks. This failure of leadership has essentially left states battling each other on the open market. We look forward to hearing from several governors on their states’ ongoing work to respond to the pandemic and what further support is needed from Congress and the Administration."
This hearing will take place remotely via Cisco Webex video conferencing. Members of the public may view the hearing via live webcast accessible at the Energy and Commerce Committee’s website. The webcast will not be available until the hearing begins.
