Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Health Subcommittee Chairwoman Anna G. Eshoo (D-CA) announced that the Health Subcommittee will hold a fully remote hearing on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m. (EDT) on the Affordable Care Act’s impacts on the status of health care coverage for Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic and the severe economic downturn. The hearing is entitled, “Health Care Lifeline: The Affordable Care Act and the COVID-19 Pandemic."
“The COVID-19 pandemic has unleashed an unprecedented health and economic crisis on our nation, leaving millions of Americans jobless and without health insurance," Pallone and Eshoo said. “While there is much more that must be done to help those in need, the Affordable Care Act has been a critical lifeline, providing health care coverage to millions of Americans who would otherwise be uninsured. Next week’s hearing will give us an opportunity to hear from those on the ground about what’s working, what more needs to be done to expand and improve access to coverage, and what effects the Administration’s harmful policies are having on struggling families who are in desperate need of quality, affordable health insurance."
