Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chair Diana DeGette (D-CO) announced today that the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee has invited officials from five manufacturers producing and developing COVID-19 vaccines to testify at a fully remote hearing on Tuesday, February 23. Officials from AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Novavax, and Pfizer have been invited to testify at the hearing. Last year, the Subcommittee held a hearing with manufacturers to discuss their vital work developing lifesaving COVID-19 vaccines.
“There have been groundbreaking successes since we first heard from vaccine manufacturers last July," Pallone and DeGette said. “Today, two safe and effective vaccines have been authorized and more could soon be on the way, but there is still considerable work to be done. This hearing will provide Congress and the American people an update from manufacturers on efforts to develop and scale up production of these critical vaccines, so that every American can be vaccinated in the coming months. We look forward to hearing from each of these companies as we all work together to bring an end to this public health crisis."
