E&C Announces Full Committee Markup of COVID-19 Relief Budget Reconciliation Legislation

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Feb. 9, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) announced today that the Energy and Commerce Committee will hold a full Committee markup on Thursday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m. via Cisco Webex video conferencing on legislative recommendations for its budget reconciliation instructions, which were passed last week by the House and Senate.

“As new variants of the virus emerge, it is vital that Congress act quickly to provide relief to the American people and the resources and support needed to bring an end to the COVID-19 pandemic," Pallone said. “This week, the Energy and Commerce Committee will take big and bold action to speed up the distribution of vaccines, expand national testing efforts, ramp up health services in underserved communities, and fund other critical needs during this terrible pandemic. There is simply no time to waste, and I look forward to marking up this urgently needed legislation later this week."

This markup will take place remotely via Cisco Webex video conferencing. Members of the public may view the markup via live webcast accessible on the Energy and Commerce Committee’s website. Please note the webcast will not be available until the markup begins.

The Committee will consider the following four Committee Prints:

Subtitle A: Budget Reconciliation Legislation Recommendations Relating to Public Health

Subtitle B: Budget Reconciliation Legislation Recommendations Relating to Medicaid

Subtitle C: Budget Reconciliation Legislation Recommendations Relating to CHIP

Subtitle D: Budget Reconciliation Legislation Recommendations Relating to Other Provisions

The Committee’s Memorandum includes a section-by-section for each of the four Committee Prints.

Additional information for this markup and a link to the live webcast will be posted HERE as they become available.
