E&C Announces Hearing on an Equitable Transition to Clean Energy

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on April 13, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Energy Subcommittee Chairman Bobby L. Rush (D-IL) announced today that the Energy Subcommittee will hold a fully remote hearing on Tuesday, April 20, at 10:30 a.m. (EDT) on the importance of facilitating an equitable transition to clean energy. The hearing is entitled, “Generating Equity: Deploying a Just and Clean Energy Future."

“As we make the transition to clean energy, it’s crucial that we do so equitably and ensure that every community - particularly those that have been historically overlooked - is included," Pallone and Rush said. “Clean energy isn’t only clean - it’s less vulnerable to market fluctuations as well, making it far more predictable and stable. It’s also increasingly affordable and generated right here at home, creating good paying jobs that can’t be shipped overseas. We look forward to discussing the obstacles and opportunities of an equitable clean energy transition, including how both Congress and the Department of Energy can help facilitate it."

This hearing will be conducted remotely via Cisco Webex video conferencing. Members of the public may view the hearing via live webcast accessible on the Energy and Commerce Committee’s website. Please note the webcast will not be available until the hearing begins.

Information for this hearing, including the Committee Memorandum witness list, testimony and a live webcast will be posted HERE as they become available.
