Washington, D.C. - House Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), Energy Subcommittee Republican Leader Fred Upton (R-MI), and Environment and Climate Change Republican Leader David B. McKinley (R-WV) have released the following statement:

“On his first day in office President Biden canceled the Keystone XL pipeline. He put thousands of workers out on the street without a job in the middle of a pandemic. As the head of the AFL-CIO put it, quote: ‘I wish he hadn’t done that on the first day… because it did and will cost us jobs.’ Now Keystone XL is officially dead and President Biden’s radical decision is proving to be disastrous for American workers and their families."

NOTE: To learn more about the devastation of President Biden’s actions to cancel Keystone XL and American jobs, watch this forum, which Subcommittee Leader McKinley led on April 13, 2021.

As WV MetroNews reported, “McKinley, the Environment and Climate Change Subcommittee’s ranking member, said the president’s decision will result in lost jobs and economic opportunities. He also warned the administration’s actions could lead to similar cancellations of other oil and natural gas projects."
