E&C Announces Health Subcommittee Markup of 19 Bills

Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Health Subcommittee Chairwoman Anna G. Eshoo (D-CA) announced today that the Health Subcommittee will hold a markup on Thursday, July 15, at 11 a.m. (EDT) in the John D. Dingell Room, 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

“This week, the Health Subcommittee will consider a number of bills to provide additional resources to respond to the ongoing substance use disorder epidemic; improve our nation’s public health; increase vaccine confidence; support programs to address maternal health and mortality; and deliver critically needed long-term Medicaid funding to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Territories," Pallone and Eshoo said. “We commend our colleagues on both sides of the aisle for their hard work and dedication to improving our nation’s health care system and look forward to a productive markup."

The Committee will consider the following bills:

H.R. 4369, the “National Centers of Excellence in Continuous Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Act," which was introduced by Pallone and Rep. Brett Guthrie (R-KY).

H.R. 654, the “Drug-Free Communities Pandemic Relief Act," which was introduced by Reps. David Joyce (R-OH) and Derek Kilmer (D-WA).

H.R. 2051, the “Methamphetamine Response Act of 2021," which was introduced by Reps. Scott Peters (D-CA) and John Curtis (R-UT).

H.R. 2379, the “State Opioid Response Grant Authorization Act of 2021," which was introduced by Reps. David Trone (D-MD) and Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ).

H.R. 2364, the “Synthetic Opioid Danger Awareness Act," which was introduced by Reps. Andy Kim (D-NJ) and Chris Pappas (D-NH).

H.R. 2355, the “Opioid Prescription Verification Act of 2021," which was introduced by Reps. Rodney Davis (R-IL), Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), and Ann Wagner (R-MO).

H.R 2503, the “Social Determinants Accelerator Act of 2021," which was introduced by Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-IL) and 22 original cosponsors.

H.R. 4026, the “Social Determinants of Health Data Analysis Act of 2021," which was introduced by Reps. Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX) and Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE).

H.R. 3743, the “Supporting the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health and the Reagan-Udall Foundation for the Food and Drug Administration Act," which was introduced by Reps. Richard Hudson (R-NC) and Eshoo.

H.R. 550, the “Immunization Infrastructure Modernization Act," which was introduced by Reps. Annie Kuster (D-NH) and Larry Bucshon, M.D. (R-IN).

H.R. 1550, the “Promoting Resources to Expand Vaccination, Education, and New Treatments for HPV Cancers Act of 2021" or the “PREVENT HPV Cancers Act of 2021," which was introduced by Reps. Kathy Castor (D-FL) and Kim Schrier, M.D. (D-WA).

H.R. 951, the “Maternal Vaccination Act," which was introduced by Rep. Terri Sewell (D-AL) and 44 original cosponsors.

H.R. 925, the “Data to Save Moms Act," which was introduced by Rep. Sharice Davids (D-KS) and 34 original cosponsors.

H.R. 4387, the “Maternal Health Quality Improvement Act of 2021," which was introduced by Reps. Robin Kelly (D-IL), Bucshon, Alma Adams (D-NC), Burgess, Jahana Hayes (D-CT), and Bob Latta (R-OH).

H.R. 3742, the “Vaccine Information for Nursing Facility Operators Act" or the “Vaccine

INFO Act," which was introduced by Reps. Bilirakis and Kathleen Rice (D-NY).

H.R. 1978, the “Protecting Seniors Through Immunization Act of 2021," which was introduced by Reps. Kuster and Bucshon.

H.R. 2347, the “Strengthening the Vaccines for Children Act of 2021," which was introduced by Reps. Schrier, G.K. Butterfield (D-NC), David B. McKinley (R-WV), and Joyce.

H.R. 3894, the "Collecting and Analyzing Resources Integral and Necessary for Guidance for Social Determinants Act of 2021" or the “CARING for Social Determinants Act of 2021," which was introduced by Reps. Blunt Rochester and Bilirakis.

H.R. 4406, the “Supporting Medicaid in the U.S. Territories Act," which was introduced by Reps. Darren Soto (D-FL), Bilirakis, and five other original cosponsors.

This will be a hybrid markup that includes both in person and remote member attendance via Cisco Webex video conferencing. Members of the public may view the hearing via live webcast accessible on the Energy and Commerce Committee’s website. Please note the webcast will not be available until the markup begins.

The Committee strongly recommends that members of the media view the proceedings remotely. The Capitol and House Office Buildings currently have restricted access. Seating in the Committee room for credentialed media is very limited. Media must RSVP to their respective press gallery no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14th.
