Washington, D.C. - Energy and Commerce Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement about the budget resolution that passed the House today:
“Speaker Pelosi’s $3.5 trillion spending and tax spree is extremely reckless-and the American people will pay the price. From the grocery store to the gas pump, low and middle-income families are already stretching their budgets because of President Joe Biden’s inflation crisis that is dangerously outpacing wage growth. The Democrats’ radical plan for more command and control over people’s everyday lives and livelihoods will make this worse, eliminate jobs, and threaten our future prosperity.
“Before Democrats move forward with their massive expansion of federal power, they owe it to the American people to be completely transparent, including by holding committee hearings, on what their radical socialist agenda will mean in our lives, our economy, our security, and global competitive edge against China. It is the height of legislative irresponsibility and malpractice to hide from accountability and continue to allow Speaker Pelosi to control this process behind closed doors."
