Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement today in response to the Biden Administration’s new Lead Pipe and Paint Action Plan:
“Today’s announcement reflects the Biden Administration’s commitment to reducing Americans’ exposure to toxic lead contamination. Building on the critical funding I helped secure in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the Action Plan will put our nation on a path to a more sustainable future for communities that have suffered from lead exposure for far too long.
“Safe drinking water is a fundamental right, and our federal government has a duty to ensure that every American can turn on their tap, confident that the water coming out is safe. I remain committed to continuing to work with the administration in fulfilling that obligation, and communities across the country will be safer and healthier for it."
