Week ending Feb. 26: 4 notices published by State Department

There were four notices published by the State Department in week ending Feb. 26, according to the Federal Register.

The most recent notice, 30-Day Notice of Proposed Information Collection: Three (3) Passport Services Information Collections-Application for a U.S. Passport; U.S. Passport Renewal Application for Eligible Individuals; and Application for a U.S. Passport: Corrections, Name Change Within 1 Year of Passport Issuance, and Limited Passport Holders, was submitted on February 24, 2022.

The State Department published six the week before, marking a 33.3 percent decrease.

The State Department is responsibly for international relations with a budget of more than $50 billion. Tenure at the State Dept. is increasingly tenuous and it's seen as an extension of the President's will, ambitions and flaws.

Notices are required documents detailing rules and regulations being proposed by each federal department. This allows the public to see what issues legislators and federal departments are focusing on.

Any person or organization can comment on the proposed rules. Departments and agencies must then address “significant issues raised in comments and discuss any changes made,” the Federal Register says.
