The following press release was published by the Office of the Spokesperson on Feb. 25. It is reproduced in full below.

The following is attributable to Spokesperson Ned Price: Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman spoke today with Hungarian Deputy Foreign Minister Levente Magyar to discuss Russia’s premeditated, unprovoked, and unjustified attack on Ukraine. Deputy Secretary Sherman emphasized that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a flagrant violation of international law and an assault on European security and our shared values. She underscored that we must remain resolute and unified to succeed in maintaining the rules-based international order. Both discussed the massive economic costs imposed on the Russian Federation thus far, and agreed to continue coordination with EU partners and NATO Allies to urge Russia to cease its military action against Ukraine immediately and withdraw its forces to avert further conflict.
