Foxx Applauds USDA Rule on ABAWDs

The following was published by the House Committee on Education and Labor on Dec. 4, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

Today, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued a final rule that promotes work for able-bodied adults without dependents (ABAWDs). Republican Leader of the Education and Labor Committee, Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), issued the following statement today in support of this rule, which promotes self-sufficiency and encourages Americans to seek and secure gainful employment:

“With over seven million unfilled jobs throughout the nation and the lowest unemployment numbers in 50 years, it is imperative that we continue to implement policies that provide all Americans a pathway to prosperity. USDA’s rule that promotes work for ABAWDs is a welcomed reform to get Americans off the sidelines and back into the workforce. I applaud the Administration’s transparency during this process, and I look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts to prepare the U.S. workforce for the 21st century so that American workers can be successful today and tomorrow."
