Today, Republican Leader of the Education and Labor Committee, Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), issued the following statement after House Democrats passed H. Res. 965, a proxy voting scheme that will jeopardize the deliberative process of the House of Representatives:
“Speaker Pelosi has decided to fundamentally shift the deliberative power of the People’s House through a proxy voting scheme that will diminish the rights of the minority.
“In order to carry out the important job of serving as the people’s representatives we must be physically present just as our Founders intended.
“When our country is hurting its leaders need to step up, not shrink from hard work and tough decisions. Democrats have decided to take the easy way out and sit on the sidelines while hardworking Americans pay the price.

“As I said earlier on the House floor, this is a dark day in the history of our country."
