Today, Republican Leader of the Education and Labor Committee Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement on an effort by North Carolina state legislators to reopen schools safely:

“Today, a bipartisan majority in the North Carolina House of Representatives sent a critical bill to the desk of Governor Roy Cooper that will require all schools to reopen safely for in-person instruction. Without question, this accomplishment sets the tone for state legislatures across the country. I hope other states will focus their efforts on having students safely return to the classroom and lifting the weight off the shoulders of countless hardworking families. I commend North Carolina State Senator Deanna Ballard for authoring this legislation, and for her tireless work on behalf of students across the Tar Heel State."
