Foxx Statement on Rep. Miller-Meeks Retaining Iowa Congressional Seat

The following was published by the House Committee on Education and Labor on March 31, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

Today, Republican Leader of the Education and Labor Committee Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement after Rita Hart withdrew her federal contest of the election results for Iowa’s Second Congressional District, securing Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks’ victory:

“The voices of Iowa’s Second Congressional District finally prevailed today when Rita Hart withdrew her misguided contest of November’s election results. Speaker Pelosi’s desperate attempt to unseat Congresswoman Miller-Meeks, a duly-elected Representative, simply to increase her razor thin majority was nothing short of shameful. Now that this Pelosi power grab is behind us, I look forward to continuing to serve alongside Rep. Miller-Meeks on the Education and Labor Committee on behalf of America’s workers, students, and job creators."
