Foxx Reacts to CDC School Reopening Guidance

The following was published by the House Committee on Education and Labor on July 9, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

Today, Republican Leader of the Education and Labor Committee Virginia Foxx (R-NC) gave the following statement in response to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) encouraging schools to reopen fully in the fall:

“The CDC is supposed to be a leader in the scientific community, not an echo chamber for Democrat talking points. While I am pleased that the CDC is finally encouraging schools to reopen fully in the fall for in-person learning, this decision was dragged out and politicized at the expense of children’s mental health and education. I hope parents and students everywhere are paying attention to the chaos the Biden administration and its teacher union allies have caused and will continue to advocate for the high-quality, in-person education they deserve."
