As the result of an FBI New Haven Task Force investigation, eight individuals have been charged with federal crimes. Additionally, 19 kilos of cocaine and $780,000 in cash has been seized.
“I credit all the members of the FBI Safe Streets/Gang Task Force for their great work in this investigation, which has disrupted the flow of a significant amount of cocaine and fentanyl into Connecticut. The cocaine and cash seized earlier this month was extraordinary, and would not have been accomplished without a terrific, coordinated effort by all involved. The U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to work with our federal, state and local partners to stem the drug trade in our cities and appropriately prosecute those responsible for it,” Leonard Boyle, U.S. attorney at the Department of Justice, said.
The FBI agents highlighted the need for a crackdown in the area when it comes to drugs.
“We understand the frustration at times expressed by community members about the drug activity within their neighborhoods. This case is the response to some of those demands for action by residents. The severe impact of this case will be felt for some time thanks to the coordinated efforts of all of our law enforcement partners,” FBI Special Agent in Charge Sundberg said.
The group of eight people have been charged with federal offenses related to the distribution of fentanyl, heroin, crack and powder cocaine.
The individuals have been identified as 33-year-old Jashon Spearman, 64-year-old James Hillard, 39-year-old Henry Horton, 20-year-old Jayquan Martinez, 24-year-old Kishon Shields, 26-year-old Rayquan Gory, 39-year-old Jeremiah Hargrove and 39-year-old Tiffany Brown.
