The following press release was published by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration on July 12, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

ST. LOUIS, MO - The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Alberici Healthcare LLC in St. Louis, Missouri, have signed a strategic partnership to promote worker safety and health during the construction of the 802,000-square-foot SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital.

The partnership will address falls, struck-by, caught-in or between, and electrocution hazards, the top four causes of fatalities in construction.

The Building and Construction Trades Council; Carpenters District Council of Greater St. Louis and Vicinity; and Eastern Missouri Laborers’ District Council are supporting the partnership.

Through its Strategic Partnership Program, OSHA works with employers, employees, professional and trade associations, labor organizations, and other interested stakeholders to establish specific goals, strategies, and performance measures to improve worker safety and health.

Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing safe and healthful workplaces for their employees. OSHA’s role is to ensure these conditions for America’s working men and women by setting and enforcing standards, and providing training, education, and assistance.
