SOUTH BEND - United States Attorney for the Northern District of Indiana, David Capp, announced that Alexander Newman, 26, of South Bend, Indiana was sentenced on Aug. 18, 2016, before Judge Jon E. DeGuilio, for manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of destructive devices (bombs).
Newman was sentenced to 97 months’ imprisonment and 2 years of supervised release.
According to documents filed in this case, Newman was arrested on Feb. 29, 2016 on outstanding warrants and was found to be in possession of materials used to manufacture methamphetamine. Newman was also in possession of three destructive devices in his home in South Bend, Indiana.
This case was prosecuted as a result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Frank E. Schaffer.
