Committee Advances 22 Bills, Nominee

The following press release was published by the Senate Committee On Energy & Natural Resources on May 17, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee today held a business meeting to advance 22 lands-related measures and the nomination of Aimee Jorjani to be chairman of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation.

U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, thanked her colleagues for their work to develop and report the measures for consideration by the full Senate, and acknowledged the hard work that lies ahead as members look to advance additional measures in the coming months.

The committee favorably reported Jorjani by voice vote. Murkowski supported her nomination, which now heads to the Senate floor.

The committee also reported all 22 bills en bloc by voice vote. Among the measures reported out were:

* S. 436 , a bill to authorize the Secretary of the Interior to retire coal preference right lease applications for which the Secretary has made an affirmative commercial quantities determination, to substitute certain land selections of the Navajo Nation, to designate certain wilderness areas, and for other purposes. Sponsored by Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M.

* S. 440 , a bill to establish a procedure for the conveyance of certain Federal property around the Dickinson Reservoir in the State of North Dakota. Sponsored by Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D.

* S. 2074 , a bill to establish a procedure for the conveyance of certain Federal property around the Jamestown Reservoir in the State of North Dakota, and for other purposes. Sponsored by Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D.

* S. 2102 , a bill to clarify the boundary of Acadia National Park, and for other purposes. Sponsored by Sen. Angus King, I-Maine.

The committee has now reported more than 100 bills during the 115th Congress. While non-controversial, most are still awaiting approval by the full Senate, which led Murkowski to encourage her colleagues to work with her to expedite their passage.

Murkowski is chairman of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources. Archived video, a full list of reported bills, and a rundown of the business meeting are available on the committee’s website.
