Memphis, TN - On 5/13/2019 Darunn Turner was arrested for First Degree Murder.
On 5/11/2019 a warrant was issued by Shelby County for Darunn Turner for First Degree Murder, Attempted First Degree Murder, Reckless Endangerment with a Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Firearm in commission of a Dangerous Felony. Turner was allegedly involved in the shooting death of Marcus Powell.
Investigators with the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force conducted an intensive search of the West Memphis area this morning. After this the fugitive turned himself in to the Task Force at the West Memphis Police Department.
He was transported to the Shelby County Jail without incident.
The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force with divisions in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. The Western Tennessee Division of the GCRFTF has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies, Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, BATF, and the Tennessee Department of Corrections Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
