Clive, IA - The Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force (SIFTF) - a multi-agency team of law enforcement officers tasked with locating and arresting violent fugitives in the Southern District of Iowa - arrested a homicide suspect in Clive Thursday afternoon.

In June, the Chicago Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Conny L. Miles, Jr., 33, after he was charged in two shooting deaths which occurred there in October 2007. The U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (GLRFTF) agreed to assist the Chicago Police Department with locating Miles.

Earlier this week, the GLRFTF developed information that Miles might now be residing in West Des Moines, Iowa. Acting on that tip, investigators with the SIFTF began searching for Miles.

Just before 1:00 pm on Thursday, SIFTF investigators located Miles driving near his suspected residence. SIFTF investigators followed Miles to a local convenience store in the 15000 block of Hickman Road in Clive where they were able to take Miles into custody without incident.

Miles was booked into the Polk County Jail in Des Moines to await extradition back to Chicago.

The SIFTF is a team of law enforcement officers led by U.S. Marshals in the Southern District of Iowa. The SIFTF’s objective is to seek out and arrest violent fugitives and sexual predators on outstanding federal, state, and local arrest warrants. SIFTF partner agencies include the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the Fifth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services, the Fourth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Department of Homeland Security.
