Concord, NH - On Sept. 22, 2019, members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force from both NH and Massachusetts along with the Seabrook Police Department arrested Massachusetts State Police fugitive, Charles Demos, 29 years-of-age. Demos was wanted on a warrant issued out of the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office for murder.
This homicide reportedly occurred during the early morning hours on Saturday during an altercation on Ferry Street in Everett, MA outside of the Karma Lounge. During this altercation, Jarrod Harris, 42 of Everett, Mass. was reportedly shot. Unfortunately, Mr. Harris succumbed to his injuries at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
Information was developed by members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force from the Massachusetts State Police - Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section indicating that Demos was currently in Seabrook, NH at the residence of his parents. Late yesterday afternoon, a cooperative effort by the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force from both NH and MA, along with numerous members of the Seabrook Police Department were able to locate and arrest Charles Demos without incident at a residence on Collins Street in Seabrook.
Also located and arrested at the residence was Charles’ brother, Joshua Demos, 31 years-of-age, who was wanted on an outstanding federal arrest warrant issued out of U.S. District Court in Boston, Mass. This warrant was for supervised release violations stemming from his original conviction and sentence for weapons offenses, including being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Both Charles and Joshua Demos were transported to the Seabrook Police Department, where they were initially processed. Charles Demos was charged as a fugitive from justice based on the arrest warrant issued out of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Charles will have his initial court appearance in Hampton District Court on Sept. 23, 2019 and if he waives extradition he will be returned to Massachusetts to face these very serious charges.
Joshua Demos was transported by the U.S. Marshals to the Strafford County Jail for holding pending his initial court appearance in the U.S. District Court in Concord, NH on Monday. After this initial hearing in New Hampshire, Joshua will be returned to the US District Court in Boston, Massachusetts to resolve his outstanding probation violations.
These arrests were made with the cooperative effort of several members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force including, members from the Hillsborough, Rockingham and Strafford, County Sheriff’s Offices, the Seabrook Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police, along with deputy U.S. Marshals.
U.S. Marshal Nick Willard said, “The State of New Hampshire is a little bit safer, now that these two armed and dangerous fugitives are in jail." Willard continued, “The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force prides itself in working seamlessly with all of our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to find and arrest these dangerous fugitives."
Since the inception of the New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 7,751 arrests (Updated as of 07/25/2019). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 8 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
