Burlington, VT - The U.S. Marshals Service arrested a fugitive for the Vermont Department of Corrections that had been on the run for 11 years.
On June 3, 2008, an arrest warrant was issued for Rashawn Law (35). According to the Vermont Department of Corrections, Law was on furlough serving a sentence for sale of cocaine, possession of stolen property, disorderly conduct, possession of a regulated drug, cocaine possession and marijuana possession. Law subsequently fled the state of Vermont. A felony escape warrant was issued shortly thereafter.
On Oct. 28, 2019, the Vermont Department of Corrections requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service in locating and apprehending Law on his escape warrant. In the early morning hours this Halloween, Law was arrested without incident by the U.S. Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force and NYC Sheriff’s Office in Brooklyn, New York. It is believed that Law was living under an alias to avoid capture.
Law has criminal history in Vermont and New Jersey to include multiple drug arrests and violation of probation.
Law’s arrest was a result of a culmination of investigative efforts by the U.S. Marshals Service - Vermont, the U.S. Marshals Service - NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, NYC Sheriff’s Office, and the Vermont Department of Corrections.
