WASHINGTON, D.C.-Today, House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) released the following statement in response to a flash alert issued by the General Services Administration (GSA) Office of Inspector General (OIG) that found vulnerabilities in programs used by the agency’s 18F team.

“It is alarming that the very IT geeks charged with helping to modernize federal IT are so casual about safeguarding important data. While we appreciate the efforts to recruit IT talent into the federal government, it appears these ‘experts’ need to learn a thing or two about protecting sensitive information. The Committee intends to further investigate this matter to ensure proper security protocol is followed."
