WASHINGTON - Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 2227, the Modernizing Government Technology Act of 2017 (MGT), sponsored by House Oversight and Government Reform Information Technology Subcommittee Chairman Will Hurd (R-TX).
The bill assists the federal government in modernizing federal IT to mitigate current operational and security risks, incentivizes cost savings in federal IT through modernization, and accelerates the acquisition and deployment of modern IT solutions.

H.R. 194, the Federal Agency Mail Management Act of 2017 (Rep. Russell, R-OK);
* Corrects the Presidential and Federal Records Act Amendments of 2014 to clarify that the General Services Administration, not the National Archives and Records Administration, is responsible for oversight of federal agency mail processing operations.
H.R. 195, the Federal Register Printing Savings Act of 2017 (Rep. Russell, R-OK);
* Limits the distribution of free printed copies of the Federal Register to members of Congress or any offices within the federal government unless requested.
H.R. 653, the Federal Intern Protection Act of 2017 (Rep. Cummings, D-MD);
* Extends current anti-discriminatory protections afforded to federal employees to interns and applicants for internships.
