Scalise: Democratic Governors Must Be Held Accountable for “Must Admit” Orders

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Oversight and Reform on Aug. 26, 2020. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON - Republican Whip and Ranking Member of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis Steve Scalise (R-La.) today praised the Department of Justice for announcing that it may initiate an investigation into deadly COVID-19 orders made by several Democratic governors that resulted in the deaths of elderly nursing home residents.

“Today’s announcement from the Department of Justice is the right step toward holding Governor Cuomo and other Democratic governors accountable for issuing deadly ‘must admit’ orders at nursing homes. These orders resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of nursing home patients. Our nation’s seniors and their loved ones deserve better. Grieving families affected by these orders must have answers about these terrible decisions that cost them their loved ones’ lives, and governors must be held responsible for their actions."
