E&C Announces Hearing on America’s Wireless Future Frontier

Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Communications and Technology Subcommittee Chairman Mike Doyle (D-PA) announced today that the Communications and Technology Subcommittee will hold a hearing on Wednesday, March 16, at 10:30 a.m. (EDT) on facilitating the advancement of next-generation wireless technologies, including 5G, to ensure the United States uses wireless technology to serve consumers and remains a global leader in this important economic sector. The hearing is entitled, “5G and Beyond: Exploring the Next Wireless Frontier.”

“Next week we’ll be exploring the promise of America’s wireless future and how all Americans can benefit from our nation’s increasingly mobile economy,” said Pallone and Doyle. “We look forward to hearing about how the American public will be better served by the deployment of 5G, next-generation Wi-Fi, and future wireless technologies to all corners of the United States, and how improved coordination will lead to better management of our nation’s airwaves.”

This will be a hybrid hearing that includes both in person and remote member attendance via Cisco Webex video conferencing. Members of the public may view the hearing via live webcast accessible on the Energy and Commerce Committee’s website. Please note the webcast will not be available until the hearing begins.

The Committee strongly recommends that members of the media view the proceedings remotely. The Capitol and House Office Buildings currently have restricted access. Seating in the Committee room for credentialed media is very limited. Media must RSVP to their respective press gallery no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15.
