The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announced today the availability of an Environmental Assessment for a proposed fiber optic line from Prineville to Reno, Nevada, for a 30-day public review ending April 20, 2022. The Environmental Assessment evaluates the impacts of Zayo Group LLC’s proposal to place approximately 630 miles of buried fiber optic cable along highways 97 and 395.
"The project would provide broadband connections to Internet Service Providers in several communities between Prineville, Oregon and Reno, NV,” said Lakeview District Manager Todd Forbes. “The Environmental Assessment analyzes the possible impacts the project could have to public land."
To review the Environmental Assessment, go online to https://go.usa.gov/xet7X. Written comments will be accepted by email at: BLM_OR_LV_PrinevilleToRenoROW@blm.gov. The BLM will respond to comments containing specific and new technical or scientific information relevant to the proposed action. Comments that contain only opinions or preferences will not receive a formal response but may be considered in the decision-making process.
