Superintendent Ahna Wilson of Women’s Rights National Historical Park and Harriet Tubman National Historical Park would like to extend a warm welcome to two new team members. Paula McCartney will be joining us as the new Administrative Officer and Jessica Bowes comes onboard as the new Cultural Resources Specialist.
“I’m excited to welcome Paula and Jess to the WORI/HART staff. Both have a deep bench of knowledge in their respective fields and bring their own valuable experiences and strengths to the park.” says Wilson.
Paula McCartney has 21 years of federal service with sixteen years working various administrative jobs with the Department of Veterans Affairs. She has spent the last five years as an Administrative Assistant with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s New York and Long Island field offices. She is married, with two children, and she enjoys camping, fishing, and spending time at their place in the Adirondacks.
Jessica Bowes joined the National Park Service and has worked with cultural resources since 2012. She has two Master of Arts degrees in Historical Archeology and Anthropology, and is currently working on her Ph.D., focusing her research on Harriet Tubman, African American archeology, and foodways. Jessica comes to the parks from her role as a Museum Technician at Fort Stanwix National Monument. Jessica also served with Harriet Tubman National Historical Park as one of the first Park Rangers at the site in 2018 to provide initial NPS-led visitor services, public tours, and community engagement efforts. Since then, she has continued to assist the park, as needed, by applying her expertise in support of preservation and documentation efforts.
