Today, Commerce Secretary Gina M. Raimondo released the following statement following House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s appointment of House conferees to the Bipartisan Innovation Act conference committee.
“With demand for chips at an all-time high, it’s crucial that we bring chip production - and it’s good-quality manufacturing jobs - back home to the United States,” Secretary Raimondo said. “This is essential to our national and economic security. Both parties, along with our partners in industry and labor, understand the urgency of this issue and the critical need to get the Bipartisan Innovation Act to President Biden’s desk as soon as possible. The members that Speaker Pelosi appointed to the conference will play a critical role in making this bill a law. I look forward to working with these lawmakers and their soon-to-be-named Senate counterparts to better secure our supply chains, create good-paying jobs across the country, invest in scientific innovation and revitalize American semiconductor manufacturing.”
