Isle Royale National Park is proud to announce the summer 2022 artists-in-residence. This year’s selections include:
- Nathan Cornelius (Philadelphia, PA, music composition)
- Elizabeth Rose (Springfield, IL, print media)
- Lisa Truax (Winona, MN, ceramics)
- Tracy Zeman (Birmingham, MI, writing)
- Abigail Ahlberg (Minneapolis, MN, weaving)
- Matt Kania (Duluth, MN, oil painting)
- Laura Polette (Berea, KY, watercolor)
- John Sichel (Mountainside, NJ, music composition)
Isle Royale received 124 applications for the 2022 program. Artists in many mediums displayed professionalism, creativity, and a mix of traditional and modern art styles. The jury’s selections were based on artistic integrity, creativity, ability to reside in a wilderness environment, and how an artist would relate and interpret the park through their work.
The artists chosen for the Teen Artist Exploration include:
- Elizabeth Bergstrom (Chassell, MI)
- Carly Goodlund (McFarland, WI)
- Grace Fritz (Maple Lake, MN)
- Gabrielle Myers (Hancock, MI)
- Ethan Sorenson (White Bear Lake, MN)
