The U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service will hold its biannual data users' meeting to share statistical program changes and to seek input on agriculture programs.
The event is planned for 1-4:30 p.m. CDT April 19 at the University of Chicago Gleacher Center, according to an April 5 NASS news release. The event is free, open to the public and has a virtual attendance option.
"We encourage all data users to attend this event because it provides an excellent opportunity to interact with data providers, ask questions, voice concerns and learn about statistical programs," USDA's Agricultural Statistics Board Chair Joe Parsons said in the news release. "This cooperative venue helps to drive change in our agricultural statistics programs to ensure we are meeting the needs of all stakeholders. For example, NASS adjusted its release dates to correspond with industry needs, based on feedback from a previous data users' meeting."
The meeting agenda includes agency updates followed by a questions and comments session, according to the news release. A 20-minute break is scheduled in the afternoon, after which the open forum is expected to resume.
"The input we receive during these discussions will ensure all USDA data-producing organizations continue to provide useful, timely and accurate statistics in service to U.S. agriculture," Parsons said.
NASS organizes the event in cooperation with the U.S. Census Bureau and USDA's World Agricultural Outlook Board, Economic Research Service, Farm Service Agency, Foreign Agricultural Service and Agricultural Marketing Service.
