Harkin Applauds HELP Committee Approval of NLRB Nominee

The following press release was published by the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions on Dec. 2, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA), Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, today applauded HELP Committee approval of National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) nominee Lauren McGarity McFerran to serve as a Member of the NLRB. Her nomination now goes to the Senate floor for consideration.

“Today the HELP Committee took an important step forward in approving the nomination of Lauren McGarity McFerran to serve as a Member of the NLRB." Harkin said. “Our economy is stronger when workers are able to speak up for fair wages, benefits, and safe working conditions. Businesses too benefit from having a fair venue for the neutral adjudication of employment disputes. Ms. McFerran is an extremely well-qualified nominee and I know she will do an excellent job in this important position. I look forward to her consideration by the full Senate."
