Murray on House Passage of ESEA Reauthorization in Committee

The following press release was published by the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions on Feb. 12, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

(Washington, D.C.) - Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee Ranking Member Patty Murray (D-WA) released the following statement on the House passage of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act Reauthorization in Committee.

“The House took an important step yesterday by passing their ESEA reauthorization bill through committee, though it’s unfortunate it was not a bipartisan process that could have included important reforms from Democrats, as well as Republicans. I’m glad Chairman Alexander and I will be working together and seeking input from our colleagues on the HELP Committee to produce a bipartisan bill that fixes the badly broken No Child Left Behind law in a way that ensures all students have access to a quality public education, regardless of where they live, how they learn, or how much money their parents make."
