In Light of Court Ruling, Murray Pushes for Quick Vote on Murray-Alexander Bill to Lower Patients’ Health Care Costs, Stabilize Markets

The following press release was published by the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions on Oct. 25, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), Ranking Member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, issued the following statement on today’s court ruling rejecting a temporary stay that would have required the Trump Administration to resume out-of-pocket cost reduction payments.

“The law is very clear that the Administration is required to make out-of-pocket cost reduction payments, and today’s ruling only makes it more critical that the Senate take up and pass the agreement Chairman Alexander and I reached, which has the support of 60-plus Senators, to ensure that President Trump executes this part of the law as Congress intended and to protect patients from paying the price for his sabotage."
