Murray on New Evidence Trump’s Health Care Sabotage is Raising Families’ Costs

The following press release was published by the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions on Feb. 26, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), Ranking Member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, issued the following statement on a new study from the Urban Institute showing the damage of President Trump’s efforts to sabotage health care.

“This is some of the clearest evidence we have yet that Republicans’ politically-motivated health care sabotage is driving up health care costs for families-and that the Administration’s plan to allow insurance companies to sell ‘junk plans’ will raise costs and undermine protections for women and people with pre-existing conditions. I’m hopeful that instead of allowing the sabotage to continue, Republicans will work with Democrats to start undoing the damage they’ve done and protecting people across the country from higher health care costs."
